Notes
T-1 = 50 concurrent users, dependent upon available bandwidth. Call for consultation or request a site assessment.
  • • Internet connection required. (See requirements listed above and on the next page.)
  • • CD/DVD-ROM drive required for loading the video content to the workstation's hard drive or network resource or for playback of the video content on an individual workstation.
  • • All Odyssey Advanced/AP management functions are delivered from the ASP Host. The management system cannot be located on a server within the district.
  • • Odyssey High School Advanced/AP requires Pop-up blockers be turned off.
  • • Ports 80 and 443 (SSL Encryption) must be open at the firewall.
  • • Content can be served from: 1) Local CD/DVD-ROM drive 2) Local hard drive 3) Network drive (recommended)
  • • Content size is dependent upon the number of different courses to be loaded. Approx 2-4 GB per course.
Bandwidth Considerations

  • • Existing network traffic. Is it used for voice too? Streaming video?
  • • The number of concurrent users is dependent upon the available bandwidth.
  • • Slow or congested network connections will support a limited number of concurrent users, dependent upon available bandwidth.
  • • Fractional T1's are not supported.
  • • Consider measuring bandwidth over a one period to determine your available bandwidth.
  • • CompassLearning will perform a Site Assessment at no charge to help determine the proper implementation model for your solution.

Odyssey High School Advanced/AP management

All Odyssey High School Advanced/AP management functions are delivered from the ASP Host. The management system cannot be located on a server within the district.

    Content delivery options include:
  • • Local CD-ROM drive
  • • Local workstation hard drive loaded from CD-ROM
  • • Local network server hard drive (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
Advantages of loading the content locally
  • • Reduced bandwidth consumption (fewer requests that need to go over the network)
  • • Reduced latency (Content is located closer to the client)
  • • Increased number of concurrent users
Wireless 802.11 a/g Network

  • • Odyssey operates on properly designed and implemented wireless networks. Recommended users to access point ratio = 15.1
  • • The number of concurrent users is dependent upon the network speed, environment and number of users per access point.
